How it works?

This hackathon kicks off with problem owners—those with specific challenges or ideas related to clinical skills development—submitting their problems. Once we have a pool of real, actionable problems, a selection panel at CSDS will select four problems and we’ll bring together teams of interested participants to collaborate on brainstorming, ideation, and solution development. This process ensures that the event remains highly focused on addressing practical, high-priority needs that affects the clinical skills performance of healthcare professionals within Queensland Health.

If you're a problem owner with a challenge you'd like to see addressed, we invite you to submit your problem for consideration. Once the problems are set, we’ll call on Queensland Health staff to join the teams best suited to solving these issues.

Why is this hackathon unique?

  • Unlike traditional hackathons, this event starts with real challenges submitted by problem owners.
  • Teams will focus on developing solutions to critical needs, encouraging creativity and knowledge-sharing.
  • The event spans four days spread across four weeks to avoid hackathon fatigue and fit in within most people's work, with scheduled sessions that allow time for thoughtful ideation, development, and refining of projects.
  • This hackathon will be a hybrid event. In-person venue will be at the Clinical Skills Development Service of the Herston Quarters. Virtual problem owners or participants could join via Microsoft Teams.

Why join as a problem owner?

Submitting a clearly articulated problem and potential solutions, you'll:

  • Work on clearly defined, high-impact problems that address critical needs in clinical skills development.
  • Partner with skilled teams and subject-matter experts from across Queensland Health who can help refine and develop your ideas into practical solutions.
  • Help develop innovative projects that have the potential to drive lasting change in clinical education and improve patient outcomes.

If you're a problem owner with a specific challenge related to clinical skills, we want to hear from you! Submit your problem, and we’ll match it with a team of passionate participants ready to develop innovative solutions.
